Final Results!

Time: 1 hour 32 minutes 21 seconds
Mpm: 7:03
Overall place: 33/1021
Sex Place: 31/456
Division place: 5/54

My ultimate goal was to run in 1:30 but this was a much tougher course than Lincoln was. I still shaved off nearly 6 minutes off of my time in Lincoln. I'm happy with my performance. This will be my last post to this blog. I am now searching for my next race.....Until the next time..

Done deal!

Distance: 2.68 miles
Time: 19 minutes 33 seconds
Mpm: 7:18

Training is over. Tomorrow is the Omaha Half, and i feel confident that I will do well. I logged over 740 miles training for this event. I'll write tomorrow after the race.

Nearing the finish line!

Distance: 6.44 miles
Time: 48 minutes 16 seconds
Mpm: 7:30

It was hot on the run, and I ran at an easy pace. But still I was able to put up a pretty good time. With the exception of Saturdays 20 minute run, this was my last workout before the race on Sunday. Tomorrow I plan to cross train for about 45 minutest but then will take it easy the rest of the night. Saturday I have the 20 minute run and that's it...I plan to rest as much as possible on Saturday and carb up! I'll be eating a lot of pasta :)

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Morning run!

Distance: 6.56 miles
Time: 48 minutes 23 seconds
Mpm: 7:23

I had to run this morning due to last night thunderstorms. It was nice and cool this morning and I took advantage of it with a good effort. I plan to run tomorrow moning as well; however, I had to work until 7 tonight so I'm not sure if I'll be up to it. If not, I'll run tomorrow after work. Either way I will put my mileage in. It will be my last significant run before Omaha. All I have after tomorrow is a 20 minute run on Saturday. After my run on Saturday, I will do nothing but rest and get as much sleep as possible.(I'll also eat a lot of spaghetti)

Hot on Monday!

Distance: 6.44 miles
Time: 48 minutes 15 seconds
Mpm: 7:30

It was hot on the run tonight, but i hung in there and ran well. My time was better than expected and I felt strong throughout. I ran using my Old Market route and there wasn't much traffic which is usually the case on a Monday night. I run 48 again tomorrow and then have Wednesday night off. I'll probably still do some sort of cross-training though.

Final Sunday run!

Distance: 5.36 miles
Time: 40 minutes 12 seconds
Mpm: 7:30

Nice run for my last sunday workout before Omaha. I ran on weak legs but did well using my Old Market route. I'm only one week away from the race, and I am definitely ready for it. I'll only run 4 times next week so i can be well rested for the Omaha Half.

Saturday, September 15, 2007

last long run!

Distance: 11.63 miles
Time: 1 hour 27 minutes 52 seconds
Mpm: 7:33

Ran well on my last run early this morning. I'm happy with where I am at. Right now I'm watching the Huskers in a 7-7 tie with top ranked USC....Go Big Red! Tomorrow I will run 45 minutes..easy.

Friday, September 14, 2007

Sub 7's are mine!

Distance: 8.04 miles
Time: 55 minutes 36 seconds
Mpm: 6:55

I hit it! Finally! My last speed workout was a success! Tomorrow I'll run anywhere from 9-13 miles using my downtown route tomorrow morning. Training is almost complete I feel ready for next Sunday! Go Big Red! Big game in Lincoln tomorrow night vs. the Trojans.

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Getting closer!

Distance: 6.15 miles
Time: 45 minutes 15 seconds
Mpm: 7:21

Ran well again using my downtown route. This route is the hilliest, so I've been using it a little more to get ready for Omaha. My time was once again really good without pushing myself too hard. The weather is perfect for running and I'm definitely hitting my stride. Tomorrow will be my last speed workout before Omaha....Can I hit sub 7's tomorrow?

Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Mid-week run!

Distance: 10.26 miles
Time: 1 hour 15 minutes 52 seconds
Mpm: 7:24

I had a good run tonight using my downtown course. There was some traffic but it didn't seem to affect my time. I was actually surprised that I was able to finish so quickly without really pushing very hard. Tomorrow I have a short 40-45 minute run which I will run very easy. I feel like I may be peaking right now, so I may cut back some miles towards the end of the week.

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

Feeling good!

Distance: 7.63 miles
Time: 55 minutes 9 seconds
Mpm: 7:14

Did good in my Fartlek workout tonight. I made the time I set out for and felt good on the run tonight. I used my riverfront course tonight and there weren't many runners out on the trail. Tomorrow I'll run 65-75 minutes...not sure how much yet. It's kind of up to me at this point because we are tapering off a bit this week if I so choose. The weather was once again near perfect tonight....it's getting closer and closer to race time :)

Monday, September 10, 2007

near perfect!

Distance: 6.7 miles
Time: 47 minutes 57 seconds
Mpm: 7:09

The weather was near perfect! The temp was about 60 degrees....very fall like! I ran easy but still wound up with a good time using my Old Market route. It was so nice that I felt like I could've ran forever! I may well be peaking at the right time! Tomorrow I do a 55 minute "fartlek" workout...it is supposed to be nice again tomorrow. The Cowboys ended up winning last night 45-35!!!!!

Sunday, September 9, 2007

Nice Sunday run!

Distance: 6.70 miles
Time: 47 minutes 57 seconds
Mpm: 7:09

The weather was great, and I took advantage of it with a good run today. I used my Old Market route and made good time. The upcoming week will be my last full week of training before the Omaha 1/2, so I hope to have a good week. Right now my Cowboys are winning, but it's close.

Saturday, September 8, 2007

Another 13 plus!

Distance: 13.22
Time: 1 hour 38 minute 59 seconds
Mpm: 7:29

I ran well on the run today! I'm happy with the time and the fact that I didn't get tired at all on the run. As opposed to last week, I went up 10th st one more time then last. Basically, that means I ran a tougher course due to the hill going up 10th. I have one more big run next Saturday before the race and that is it! Training is almost over. Tomorrow I plan to run 45 minutes hard and then 20 minutes easy later in the day. Nu squeaked out a win over Wake Forest...20-17!

Friday, September 7, 2007

FRIDAY, FRIDAY!

Distance: 5.12 miles
Time: 37 minutes 29 seconds
MPm: 7:15

I ran well considering my legs were jelly at the start. I cut my run short a bit so I can wake up early and do 13 miles before going to work. The high on Sunday is only going to be 67, so I will do a 45 minute speed workout and a 20 minute easy run then to make up for time missed tonight. I got out so late, my thought was to cut it short so I can hit the hay early tonight. I'll be in bed shortly! Go Big Red!

Thursday, September 6, 2007

Struggle!

Distance: 10.34 miles
Time: 1 hour 22 minutes 56 seconds
mpm: 8:01

I'm happy I was able to go the entire 10 miles, but my time was not good at all! I struggled during the whole run due to the heat this evening. I was supposed to run this morning but was unable to get motivated this morning. Hopefull I will feel better tomorrow morning. It's hard running in the humidity! That is for sure.

Wednesday, September 5, 2007

not so good!

Distance: 7.43 miles
Time: 56 minutes 20 seconds
Mpm: 7:35

Didn't run very good on my "fartlek" workout tonight. I usually want to be around 7:15 or so miles, but it was hot and humid on the run. I'll go back to running mornings hopefully tomorrow and the weather is supposed to cool down after tomorrow. I've been running so much better in the morning as opposed to the evening. That's good because the race is in the morning:)

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

be back tomorrow

It's late...my workout is on the lefthand side. Will be back tomorrow with a new entry.

Saturday, September 1, 2007

1/2 marathon plus!

Distance: 13.28 miles
Time: 1 hour 38 minutes 19 seconds
Mpm: 7:24

I ran more than the half marathon distance and did rather well. I got fatigued halfway through and wondered if I would make the distance. The second half, I seemed to get my wind and that carried me the rest of the way. I'm very happy with the time and effort.

After my run, I then headed to Lincoln to see the Huskers beat up on Nevada....52-10 was the final. They looked good! There were many upsets today, but the mighty Huskers avoided such a thing.

Friday, August 31, 2007

Easy run!

Distance: 6.09 miles
Time: 46 minutes 11 seconds
Mpm: 7:35

I ran easy instead of doing my speed workout...I'll do that on sunday. Tomorrow I plan to run 13 mile or so and then get ready for the Huskers vs Nevada!!! That's right, I'm heading to Lincoln for the opener tomorrow along with my cousin from Indiana.
Huskers rule!

Thursday, August 30, 2007

I'm here!

Distance: 10.34 miles
Time: 1 hour 18 minutes 34 seconds
Mpm: 7:36

I had a nice run using my riverfront course. I had a big pasta buffet lunch, so I definitely had fuel to burn. I ran strong throughout the run and never did tire...I could've have run much more tonight. The weather is very good right now, and this makes my running that much better. Tomorrow I'll try to run in the morning and do my speed workout.

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Gone sleeping!

My last 2 workouts are on the left hand side of the page. I'll be back with a new entry tomorrow.

Monday, August 27, 2007

Hot....again!

Distance: 5.84 miles
Time: 45 minutes 32 seconds
Mpm: 7:48

It was hard to estimate my total miles run, and I believe I ran more than indicated. I ran by the Riverfront, then ran around the Lake at Heartland of America park. I ran good for a Monday and I seem to be hitting my stride at the right time. It was 90 plus, so I had to pace myself a bit. It's supposed to cool down after tomorrow.

Sunday, August 26, 2007

Sunday was OK.

Distance: 6.09 miles
Time: 46 minutes 10 second
Mpm: 7:35

I combined courses on this hot day and did rather well for a Sunday. I didn't get too fatigued and felt great after the run. I logged in over 56 miles this week which is a personal best for me. I'll probably do a little more this coming week.:)

Saturday, August 25, 2007

Almost 13!

Distance: 12.3 miles
Time: 1 hour 30 minutes 8 seconds
Mpm: 7:20

My long run went very well today! Well, except I dropped my keys and had to retrace back to find them. I felt strong on the run and didn't tire to badly. Next weekend I plan to run 13.7 miles!

I didn't run until after work because I was so worn out from my 12 hour day on Friday. The temp was still near perfect! I used my Downtown course and didn't encounter too much traffic this morning. It was overall a damn good run!:)

Friday, August 24, 2007

Dang!

Distance: 7.70 miles
Time: 55 minutes 15 seconds
Mpm: 7:11

I dragged rather badly on the run and came up short of my goal. As a matter of fact, it's lunch time and I still am dragging. I was hoping for sub 7 miles but didn't quite get it. Hopefully I will have enough gas for my long run tomorrow morning.

Thursday, August 23, 2007

Nice morning run!

Distance: 10.04 miles
Time: 1 hour 15 minutes 14 seconds
Mpm: 7:30

It was only 67 degrees on the run today and it made the run so comfortable. I ran very strong and made good time without pushing myself too much. I used my downtown route and didn't encounter any traffic this morning. I plan to use my Old Market route for my speed workout tomorrow morning. It felt great to run in decent weather again!

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

Wednesday morning

Distance: 7.37 miles
Time: 53 minutes 55 seconds
Mpm: 7:19

Didn't quite hold pace like I wanted to in the middle of the run, but I still put up a pretty good time. It was still pretty humid this morning, plus I didn't have much time to recover from last nights run. Tomorrow morning I should be back on schedule! I'll have a full day/night to recover for my 75 minute run. I used my Old Market course this morning and will run my downtown course tomorrow morning.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

Night run!

Distance: 6.03 miles
Time: 45 minutes 25 seconds
Mpm: 7:32

I wound up running tonight due to a bad night of sleep last night. I ran later than usual and wound up with a pretty solid effort. I should be able to sleep good tonight, so I will be out there tomorrow morning and will run in the A.M through Saturday. We are going to get a small break from the heat and this will help my runs for sure!

Monday, August 20, 2007

Damn, this heat!

Distance: 6.7 miles
Time: 49 minutes 58 second
Mpm: 7:27

I ran good, but look forward to running in the morning the rest of the week. This heat can really take it out of you. I got fatigued a little bit around the 4th mile but held on. I plan to run at about 5 or so tomorrow. This will give me a much needed rest from the heat.

Sunday, August 19, 2007

Hello again!

My overnight guest wound up staying two nights and my Friday run was affected. I didn't pick AD up until 1:30 am on Friday and only got 4 hours of sleep! I just didn't feel up to running. I finally took her back to the airport at 4:30am on Saturday...again, only about 4 hours of sleep. She did take me out for spaghetti at spaghetti works, so we are even. I ate two plates and a salad.

Running went ok...I ran 11 plus mile on Saturday at a sub 7:30 pace. And this was in 90 plus temps. Today I ran twice and logged in over 8 miles again in good time. I look forward to getting back to normal this week. No more two a days! I tried to make up for missing Friday but it just doesn't work. I'll run tomorrow after work and then run in the morning the rest of the week. I expect to have a good week of running :)

Thursday, August 16, 2007

flight delay!

Got rained out this morning during the run and couldn't make it all up tonight. Ad's flight keeps getting delayed, and right now she is scheduled to arrive at 11:30 Pm. Both my runs were messed up today, so I didn't log as many miles as I wanted to. Hopefully next week will go smoother than this one has.

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

to be continued....

Distance: 4.11 miles
Time: 31 minutes 11 seconds
Mpm: 7:35

I've decided to run 75 minutes tomorrow morning due to the humidity...I'll write much more tomorrow. I will also run 15 minutes in the evening.

My best friends girlfriend arrives tomorrow and she will stay overnight. I'll then take her back to the airport on Friday evening after work. I don't mind having her stay...Chris would do the same for me.

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Omaha!

Distance: 6.82 miles
Time: 55 minutes 3 seconds
Mpm: 8:03

My time wasn't up to my standards, but it's totally understandable. The heat index was about 105 when I ran and I had to stop for water 4 times! I didn't have to break up the run tonight, so I'll consider tonight a success!

The fun part is I ran about 4 miles of the actual course I will tackle in September. I ran through part of the Con Agra campus, and wound up going through part of Little Italy. I really didn't run that bad, it's just the fact I had to stop for water so much. I consumed a full 16 ounces of water but still lost 5 pounds of body water on the run. I won't worry about time until Thursday when I start running in the morning again. Next week I'll run in the mornings Tuesday - Saturday. It should help :)

Monday, August 13, 2007

2 runs...again!

It was hot, so I broke the run into 2 runs again. I am starting to think I am going to start doing a 10 minute warmup run before my actual run on these hot days. It seems I come out a bit flat and need a warmup and stretch before starting. I'll start running in the morning on Wednesday...its easier.

Thanks to William for leaving me the comment on my post yesterday. It's alway nice to hear from fellow runners. We are nuts for even attempting to run in this heat! When will it end? I do know one thing. If it's nice and cool on the morning of the Omaha half, I am going to run it in great fashion. Training in this crap has it's benefits.

Sunday, August 12, 2007

2 runs!

I broke up my run into 2 segments due to my hangover and the 100 degree heat. I ran as well as I could and look forward to better runs this week. My pace was bad today and you can see the workouts on the right hand side of the page.

Saturday, August 11, 2007

Bye Mike

Distance: 10.92
Time: 1 hour 25 minutes 2 seconds
Mpm: 7:47

We had a cookout for my brother who is leaving for Kuwait early Monday morning. Actually, he has to go to New Jersey first then Kuwait. He'll be gone a total of 6 months and 3 weeks which is much too long.

Friday, August 10, 2007

missed again.

Distance: 7.09 miles
Time: 55 minutes 35 seconds
Mpm: 7:09

I again came up short. I think my first mile is still going too fast. I have to start up slower and build my speed up and let it happen naturally. Just like on some of my longer runs where I'm not trying for speed. I always speed up as the run goes on....I have to relax on these speed runs.

Thursday, August 9, 2007

Thursday morning run!

Distance: 6.03 miles
Time: 45 minutes 5 seconds
Mpm: 7:28

It was humid, but much better running in the morning. I ran at a good pace and made a pretty good time. I'm going to run my fast run of the week tomorrow morning. My goal is to finally get a sub 7 mile once again. I may even try to run Saturday early before work...that would be tough to do though. I have to run 85 minutes.

Wednesday, August 8, 2007

Rainy night.

Distance: 9.56 miles
Time: 1 hour 15 minutes 10 seconds
Mpm: 7:52

Probably my slowest effort in sometime. It was very humid and rained rather hard and steady the second half of my run. It wasn't the best of nights. Tomorrow I am going to try to run in the morning before work. This is the best time during this heat spell we have been under.

Tuesday, August 7, 2007

Humid = Sucks!

Distance: 7.49 miles
Time: 55 minutes 5 seconds
Mpm: 7:21

I ran really good in crappy conditions. It was sticky and actually started to rain at the end of my run. The funny thing about it, the sun was actually beating down as it rained. This made a very sticky uncomfortable rain.

This week is going to be bad as far as the weather is concerned. Tomorrow I have a 70 minute run scheduled and I'm not looking forward to it. All I can do is go out and do my best.

Monday, August 6, 2007

the day after

Distance: 5.91 miles
Time: 45 minutes 2 seconds
Mpm: 7:37

The run was tough in the humidity but it went Ok. I'm going to try to run tomorrow morning to avoid this crap!!! After reflecting for a day on my race yesterday, I'm actually very happy with my time under the circumstances. I plan to train even harder for the next 5 weeks!

Sunday, August 5, 2007

Chalo 10k!

Distance: 6.2 miles
Time: 46 minutes 26 seconds
Mpm: 7:29

What a miserable day for my first 10k. It was hot but I was still able to pull out a pretty good time. I finished 28th out of 116 participants so I'm happy. My training is going goood, but this month is big for me. I need to get faster and I will do this.

Saturday, August 4, 2007

Bad day!

Distance: 2.87 miles
Time: 22 minutes 6 seconds
Mpm: 7:43

I didn't run in the morning so I cut the run short today. Tomorrow I'll run twice! I have my race in the morning and will run in the afternoon to make up for today. I just didn't have it today and wanted to save some energy for my 10k in the morning.

Friday, August 3, 2007

A.M. run

Distance: 7.70 miles
Time: 55 minutes
Mpm: 7:09

I didn't quite get the sub 7's I wanted, but it was much better running in the morning. I ran around the Old Market and felt good on the entire run. I just have to kick it up a notch to meet my goal time of sub 7 minutes per mile. I am going to run in the A.M while the weather is hot on at least Friday and maybe Tuesday.

Not much going on tonight due to work in the morning. Tomorrow I have a family gathering and I plan to be in bed somewhat early. I will still run in the morning and will hopefully be rested up for my race on Sunday. I'm shooting for 45 minutes or less at the Lake Wherspan 10k at Chalco Hills.

Thursday, August 2, 2007

more like it

Distance: 6.15 miles
Time: 45 minutes 30 seconds
Mpm: 7:24

Ran better using my Old Market route. The weather wasn't quite as bad and I felt good on the run. I'm going to try and run tomorrow morning. We'll see if that happens.

Wednesday, August 1, 2007

It rained!

Distance: 9.01 miles
Time: 1 hour 10 minutes 23 seconds
Mpm: 7:49

It was humid and actually rained lightly on my run tonight. I didn't once look at time during my run, so my time was a little slower than I would like. I did feel good on the run and never once got tired.

The next month I am really going to look to get my times down a little bit. Of course the weather will have something to say about that. I am going to run my speed run on Friday in the morning before work, hopefully anyway. Sunday I am going to participate in a 10k at chalco hills. I'm not going to run all out, but I hope to do it in 45 minutes or less. I am going to improve times from here on out. I need to, so I can meet my goal in Omaha.

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

Tuesday again.

Distance: 7.19 miles
Time: 55 minutes 5 seconds
Mpm: 7:40

Ran ok but not great. I'm not going to write much tonight.

Monday, July 30, 2007

Ok for a Monday!

Distance: 5.86 miles
Time: 45 minutes 19 seconds
Mpm: 7:44

I used my Riverfront course so I had to guess a bit on the distance. I ran comfortably and felt strong throughout. It was hot and sunny but not as bad as last week. Right now I'm watching my favorite show Hell's Kitchen :)

Sunday, July 29, 2007

Sunday again!

Distance: 6.04 miles
Time: 45 minutes
Mpm: 7:27

A good run for a Sunday. I ran well and was able to kick it in high gear for the last mile. The Old Market was kind of quiet on the run, so I didn't encounter too much traffic. I am going to run in the morning on at least one of my runs this week and see how it goes.

I talked to my best friend tonight (the one who makes my workouts) and he told me his girlfriend will be in Omaha on August 16th-17th. Chris unfortunately won't be able to come so I agreed to let her stay for the night. He would do the same for me, so I am happy to help. After all, he's the one who is helping me achieve my goal in Omaha. Chris is also attempting to qualify for the Olympic trials in New York which speaks volumes of his fitness level.

Saturday, July 28, 2007

Not so good!

Distance: 10.4 miles
Time: 1 hour 20 minutes 22 seconds
Mpm: 7:44

I'm not happy with todays effort. It was hotter than I thought, but I still didn't run worth a sh@it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, July 27, 2007

FFFFRRRRRRIIIIDDDDAAAAYYYYY!

Distance: 7.55 miles
Time: 55 minutes 6 seconds
Mpm: 7:18

The weather was a little better, but it was still hot and humid. I missed sub 7's again but did pretty good considering. I have no doubt I can achieve this time if I had better weather conditions. In cooler conditions, I would be able to push harder and wouldn't have to stop for water as often. I'm still a bit dissappointed I'm not hitting my mark though. I am running faster on these night than I am on my easy ones though.

Thursday, July 26, 2007

Omaha weather sucks!

Distance: 5.36 miles
Time: 40 minutes 16 seconds
Mpm: 7:31

The run went rather well despite the heat and humidity. I was able to do my run without getting dehydrated or fatigued. The only tough part was running by the people sitting outside in the Old Market drinking beer....I really wanted to stop and have one. Tomorrow we are supposed to get a small break in the heat. I'm very much looking forward to it :)

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Tired of the heat!!

Distance: 9.16 miles
Time: 1 hour 10 minutes 15 seconds
Mpm: 7:40

I am so tired of running in the heat! I can't wait for the day when I can go out and have a normal run. I ran well considering the fact I had to stop for water at least 5 times on my run tonight. I felt like quitting but hung in there and completed the time I had scheduled. Tomorrow I have an easy 35 minute run, and i am very much looking forward to the shorter distance. When will the heat finally let up? At least to temps below 90?

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Hot Hot HOT!

Distance: 7.22 miles
Time: 55 minutes 9 seconds
Mpm: 7:38

Not my best run, but the heat was once again a major factor. I wasn't able to do my Fartlek workout which is a small disappointment. I'm going to have to move some of these runs to the morning if the heat doesn't disappear. It's the only way I'll be able to effectively do my "faster" workouts. You simply cannot go as fast in this heat and humidity.

Monday, July 23, 2007

Damn heat!

Distance: 6.03 miles
Time: 45 minutes 24 seconds
Mpm: 7:32

Another hot one, but I did Ok considering it was a Monday. I used my old market route to stay out of the sun as much as possible. It helped but it was still hot. Tomorrow is supposed to be 90 again and I have 55 minutes to run. I'm not looking forward to it.

Sunday, July 22, 2007

sunday, next is monday!

Distance: 5.42 miles
Time: 41 minutes 39 seconds
Mpm: 7:41

I ran Ok for a Sunday. It was tough going out due to the heat. I don't have much to say tonight.

Saturday, July 21, 2007

10.74 miles!

Distance: 10.74 miles
Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Mpm: 7:27

The weather was perfect, and I took advantage of it with another good effort. This was the longest run since Lincoln and I'm happy with the time and my stamina. It wasn't too busy in the Old market, so I didn't encounter too much pedestrian traffic.

I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the day, and then have a couple of cool ones tonight at a friends house.

Friday, July 20, 2007

Close, but no cigar.

Distance: 7.05 miles
Time: 50 minutes 16 seconds
Mpm: 7:08

I missed my sub 7's by 08 seconds per mile. I'm a little disappointed but it went much better than last week. I tried to keep the pace up but got a little tired on the last 2 laps. The main thing is I went at a faster pace and was able to hold it for 7 miles.

I'm going to take it easy the rest of the night and get ready for tomorrow mornings 80 minute run. It should be my longet yet! Well, since Lincoln anyway.

Thursday, July 19, 2007

Nice and cool.

Distance: 8.89 miles
Time: 1 hour 5 minutes 42 seconds
Mpm: 7:24

The weather was much better and so was the run. I actually was able to run without feeling dead to the world after finishing. Hopefully my speed workout tomorrow can go as well.

I used my downtown route and didn't hit a lot of traffic tonight. It went really smooth and I look forward to the next few days. I should be able to run in temps under 90 degrees through Sunday.

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

change of plans!

Distance: 4.69 miles
Time: 36 minutes 43 seconds
Mpm: 7:50

I ended up doing tomorrows run this evening, so I'll be doing the longer run tomorrow. I didn't feel like dealing with the heat again so I switched the 2 out. I'll write more tomorrow.

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

Hottest yet!

Distance: 7.05 miles
Time: 55 minutes 1 second
Mpm: 7:48

The heat was dreadful tonight and I was just happy to finish the run still standing. It had to have been 93 or so when I went out. I'm not looking forward to tomorrows run at all! I have to run 10 more minutes than I did tonight. Maybe I should start doing some of these in the morning.

Tomorrow I am going to start mixing my water with Gatorade. I'm hoping this will help along the way in this heat. I'm sure I'll be sleeping pretty damn good tonight.

Monday, July 16, 2007

Damn hot!

Distance: 5.36 miles
Time: 40 minutes 18 seconds
Mpm: 7:31

93 degrees on the run tonight. Damn hot!! I got tired but hung in there with a pretty good time. I used my old market route and will probably use it tomorrow due to the heat. Right now it's HELLS KITCHEN time :)

Sunday, July 15, 2007

The heat returns!!!!

Distance: 5.30 miles
Time: 40 minutes 19 seconds
Mpm: 7:36

The heat returned in a big way and it definitely affected my run. I took my time today following my long run yesterday. I'm happy with my run today considering the heat and all.

Right now I'm watching the weather forecast for tomorrow and the high is supposed to be 96 at 5:00. That's when I'm going to run! It's going to be tough, but I only have 35 minutes scheduled thank goodness!

Saturday, July 14, 2007

10 miles +

Distance: 10.05 miles
Time: 1 hour 15 minutes 14 seconds
Mpm: 7:29

I finally did a 10 plus mile run since Lincoln and felt great. My time was where it's supposed to be and I look forward to getting back out there tomorrow. It's amazing how good it feels to build my mile back up! :)

Friday, July 13, 2007

tired!

Distance: 4.78 miles
Time: 33 minutes 34 seconds
Mpm: 7:02

I was rather sluggish/fatigued on the run tonight so I stopped after about 33 minutes. I came out to fast, not to mention that I ran more last night than I was supposed to. I want to save some energy for my longer run tomorrow.

I'm not doing much tonight. I'm going to eat, watch a movie and then hit the bed. Not very exciting on a Friday night.:(

Thursday, July 12, 2007

Taco Thursday

Distance: 7.11 miles
Time: 52 minutes 29 seconds
Mpm: 7:23

Due to a big taco buffet lunch, I ran a little more than I was supposed to. I might cut back on one of my runs later this week/weekend. I ran really good considering, and again, the weather was near perfect for running. I only have to work a half day tomorrow!:)

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

frickin!

Distance: 8.83 miles
Time: 1 hour 5 minutes 2 seconds
Mpm: 7:22

The weather was excellent again tonight and I had another good run. I ran my downtown route and didn't even hit any lights on my run tonight which is very unusual. My pace was a bit quicker than I wanted but was steady throughout the run. Training is going very good right now and I feel strong on most of these run. Tomorrow I have a shorter run on the schedule and it comes just in time. I logged over 16 miles over the last two nights and look forward to the shorter distance.

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

better weather!

Distance: 7.58 miles
Time: 55 minutes
Mpm: 7:16

The weather was so much better tonight, and my run went so smooth. I ran a Fartlek run, which is swedish for "speed play" I believe, and ran at a comfortable yet quick pace. Basically, I run about 7:30-7:40 mpm for some of the run and then run at a faster pace for 25 minutes of the 55 minute run. I actually paced myself a little to quick but it was hard not to with the better conditions. Tomorrow I run 65 minutes and it's supposed to be at an easy pace.

Monday, July 9, 2007

Blah, Blah!

Distance: 4.81 miles
Time: 35 minutes 8 seconds
Mpm: 7:19

A very good run for a Monday. The weather was a little cooler this evening and that helps so much on these runs. I decided just to run around the Old Market and it's actually one of my favorite courses (for my shorter runs). Tomorrow and Wednesday we'll pick up the mileage, so I'm hoping to get plenty of sleep tonight. Of course, you know what monday night means.....HELLS KITCHEN!!!!!!! YAH!!!!!

Sunday, July 8, 2007

Not bad!

Distance: 4.63 miles
Time: 35 minutes 05 seconds
Mpm: 7:34

Not bad considering the heat. I had to stop for water 3 times but never really tired during my run. I'm getting a litlle better dealing with the heat and keeping hydrated. It's supposed to cool down a bit this week, so hopefully I'll have better conditions to run in.

Saturday, July 7, 2007

I hate this heat!

Distance: 9.07 miles
Time: 1 hour 10 minutes 8 seconds
Mpm: 7:44

I ran at 9 am but the heat and humidity were already a factor. I stopped for water 3 or 4 times and was just happy to finish the run. It's so tough running in this shit, but I still have to get out there and do it.

I stayed home tonight and did absolutely nothing! The run took it out of me and staying in the a/c sounded good to me. I hate not doing anything on Saturday night though.

Friday, July 6, 2007

Friday run.

Distance: 5.48 miles
Time: 40 minutes 13 seconds
Mpm: 7:20

A good effort considering the heat. Again my time is a little off with my 3 stops for water. I'm just happy I'm able to complete my runs in this crap! Tomorrow I'll run early due to a forecasted high of 97 degrees. I want no part of that! I've had my ups and downs in this training program, but I've been able to complete over 200 miles for the Omaha half. Overall, I must say I'm happy with the way things are going. All of this training in the heat will payoff come September.

Thursday, July 5, 2007

much better!

Distance: 7.1 miles
Time: 55 minutes
Mpm: 7:45

I made up for yesterdays bad run and ran a little more than scheduled tonight. I had to stop and sip water about 4 times and that definitely slowed my pace a bit. I have learned that it's more important to stay hydrated in this heat than it is to make time. I ran around the old market which helped me stay out of the sun and stay close to my water. This payed major dividends and I'm happy with tonights run :)

Wednesday, July 4, 2007

I'm a dumbass!

Distance: 7.56 miles
Time: 1 hour 3 minutes 6 seconds
Mpm: 8.21

I messed up my run today. First, I ran with a hangover which is never a good idea. Second, it was very, very hot! Of course I decided to venture out on Abbott drive and got about 2.5 miles away from my apt., and more importantly, my water. Needless to say I got very dehydrated and actually had to take a walk break about 30 minutes into the run. I never did fully recover even after drinking water. I did however finish the last 2 miles or so in good fashion. I need to learn the importance of water on these hot days. Perhaps todays experience will help me in the future.

Tuesday, July 3, 2007

Hot, Hot, Hot!!!

Distance: 6.02 miles
Time: 45 minutes
Mpm: 7.29

One of the toughest runs I've had in a long time. I was drenched when I got home afterwards, but despite the heat and wind, I did rather well. It was tough, but managed to finish with a pretty good time. I paced myself slowly for part of the run but ran sub 7:30's for 20 minutes of it. That is what wore me out so bad. At least I get to sleep in a bit tomorrow to help recover from the beating I took tonight.

Monday, July 2, 2007

Monday Monday!

Distance: 4.18 miles
Time: 30 minutes
Mpm: 7:11

Good run for a Monday. I had to battle a pretty strong wind on the run but did pretty well despite it. Looking forward to having the 4th off.

Sunday, July 1, 2007

Ouch!

Distance: 4.93 miles
Time: 38 minutes 10 seconds
Mpm: 7:47

Very tough run following my long run yesterday. I'm not disappointed though. I'm just happy I was able to finish the run. Plus, I really paced myself today so I wasn't worried about time.

Evander won last night via 10 round decision. In case you didn't know it, i'm a huge Evander Holyfield fan.

Saturday, June 30, 2007

Morning run.

Distance: 9.53
Time: 1 hour 10 minutes 13 seconds
Mpm: 7:22

Another good effort despite the traffic due to the Farmers Market. This was my longest run since Lincoln and I felt great afterwards. I'm back to form!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, June 29, 2007

Good tempo!

Distance: 5.74 miles
Time: 40 minutes 05 seconds
Mpm: 6:59

I took advantage of another nice weather night with a sub 7 run. This was the longest run I've been able to hold under 7mpm, and this was with quite a bit a people traffic in the old market. I'm happy with my progression.

Tomorrow morning after work I go on a 70min "easy" run which will be my longest run yet since the Lincoln half. I'm confident tomorrow will go smooth just like my last couple of runs.

Thursday, June 28, 2007

Another good weather day!

Distance: 4.17
Time: 30 minutes
Mpm: 7:12

I took advantage of another nice day to log in a good run. I have to enjoy it now because the heat will return by Sunday. I used my downtown/riverfront trail and had a nice smooth run throughout and then sped up the tempo the final 1:30.

Training has been going very good lately, but there is on bad thing about it....I lost one more pound. I feel great but I get tired of people telling me that I am too skinny. I've upped my daily calorie intake to 3000-3200 a day but still I lost a pound. I don't think I'm too skinny. After all, I'm 5'6 and weigh about 134..how much am I supposed to weigh?

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

mid-week run!

Distance: 7.66
Time: 55 minutes 10 seconds
Mpm: 7:12

I had a good run using my downtown route. It's always nice to run around the Old Market. Not much to write tonight other than the fact I had a pretty nice run.

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

Yikes!

Distance: 5.78 miles
Time: 45 minutes
Mpm: 7:47

I ran my riverfront course tonight, so I had to estimate my distance a little more. I'm guessing it's pretty accurate because I slowed it down tonight due to the heat. I still did Ok considering.

Monday, June 25, 2007

Another hot one!

Distance: 4.05 miles
Time: 35 minutes
Mpm: 7.24

This week my miles will really start to pick up and I feel like training is getting better at the right time. Tonights run was nice and relaxed and went well considering the heat. I just need to remember to run relaxed on my non-speed days. I ran tonight using my downtown/riverfront course tonight. Tomorrow I might use my downtown/old market trail. Right now it's Hell's Kitchen time! It's the best show on!

Sunday, June 24, 2007

Sunday run.

Distance: 4.02 miles
Time: 30 minutes
Mpm: 7.28

Another good run today, but it was a lot hotter than yesterday. I didn't encounter too much traffic and didn't hit a lot of traffic lights. The arts festival is going on down here so there is quite the crowd, but I avoided most of it with the new course I mapped out. I'll use this one quite a bit. It doesn't have as many traffic lights as my other courses.

Saturday, June 23, 2007

I'm back!

Distance: 7.40 miles
Time: 55:29
Mpm: 7:30

What a great run I had! I haven't felt this good in a long time!:)

Friday, June 22, 2007

Learning experience.

Distance: 4.67 miles
Time: 35 minutes
Mpm: 7:30

I got fatigued on the run today, but again I was battling the heat. I talked to my friend/coach today and he told me I should have 7:30-8:00mpm pace on easy days. So actually, I'm ok on some of these days I get frustrated. Plus, I always have traffic lights so somedays I could be around 8:30 miles. I'll note on here when I am supposed to be running harder as opposed to easy days. Tomorrow I'm scheduled to run 55 minutes which will be my longest run on this program. I plan to run around 8 minutes miles.

This is only my second race ever and only took up running less than a year ago, so I still have much to learn. Once I learn to pace myself, training will get much better.

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

f@ck!

Distance: 5.36
Time: 42 minutes
Mpm: 7:50

Horrible! It wasn't my night or day for that matter.

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

sub 7!

Distance: 5.02 miles
Time: 35 minutes
Mpm: 6.58

I hit my goal time of sub 7's using my downtown route. I had luck with the traffic lights tonight and ran rather well. I'm hoping this week will turn out better than last, but the heat returns tomorrow with a temp of 91 degrees. The heat will definitely slow me down and it's supposed to stay with us through the weekend.

Monday, June 18, 2007

another Monday!

Distance: 4.12 Miles
Time: 30 minutes
Mpm: 7:17

Although my time wasn't the best, I ran rather well tonight using my downtown course. The problem I had tonight was traffic lights. I know I must have lost at least 1 minute, and part of the sidewalk was blocked on part of my course. All in all I'm happy with the run tonight.

Sunday, June 17, 2007

Windy!

Distance: 4.06 miles
Time: 30minutes :36 seconds
Mpm: 7:32

I was a bit tired on the run and the wind didn't help. I think it was gusting up to 25-30mph and that definitely affected my run. I didn't have the best of weeks and hopefully this week will fare better.

Saturday, June 16, 2007

Ooops!

Distance: 6.48
Time: 50 minutes
Mpm: 7:43

Yeah, my time wasn't so good, but I had to slow it down due to the heat. I was unable to run in the morning due to getting a haircut and going to the Mall after work. It was HOT and I had to pace myself. At least I was able to finish standing up!

Friday, June 15, 2007

1st speed workout!

Distance: 4.87 miles
Time: 35 minutes
Mpm: 7:11

I didn't quite meet my goal of sub 7 Mpm's, but I did cover more ground than I did on Tuesday in the same amount of time. It's going to be tough in this heat and with the traffic lights. I'm hoping that I can keep improving on these runs and eventually meet my goal.

Tonights run was really pretty good though. I was able to pick the tempo up at certain times of the run and didn't run out of gas. Hopefully, I'll get use to the heat and humidity and it won't be such a factor.

Thursday, June 14, 2007

Heat!

Distance: 4.19 miles
Time: 30minutes 38 seconds
Mpm: 7:18
The heat is really tough to deal with on these runs. I'm really looking forward to Saturdays AM run. I ran the Qwest route once again and hit some more traffic lights, and almost got runover once.

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Midweek!

Distance: 5.54miles
Time: 40 minutes
Mpm: 7:13

Don't feel like typing much tonight. I ran the Qwest loop again and had a pretty good run. Starting tomorrow, the CWS traffic begins and it will be a zoo down here.

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Blah!

Distance: 4.7 miles
Time: 35 minutes
Mpm: 7:27

Time wise it wasn't my best effort, but I felt stronger tonight than was the case last night. I ran the Qwest loop again and like the change. The only thing about these runs is the fact that I always hit a few traffic lights, and that definitely affects my overall time. This is why I can't be too concerned if I'm slower on some nights, and I need to be slower on certain days once I start the speed workouts.

Monday, June 11, 2007

mondays suck!

Time: 30 minutes
Distance: 4.19 miles
Mpm: 7:10

It was very hot and very humid on the run tonight. I mapped a new course that went by the Qwest center and enjoyed the new scenery. I ran pretty good but the humidity kicked my butt a bit. I need to learn to slow down when it's hot and sticky like it was tonight.

Of course, the worst thing that happened tonight was my headphones on my mp3 player went out. That Sucks! Oh well, I'll live.

Sunday, June 10, 2007

Hangover!

The run was a bit messed up due to my horrible hangover. I ran 4.06 in 29:51, but it wasn't in the usual fashion. I got up from a nap and immediately went out on the run which was a mistake. My body and legs were not awake so I stopped after 2.74 miles. I went for a walk to gallup road and then decided to run home from there. This stretch went much better, for my body was totally functional at this point. All in all in wasn't so bad.

The thing I learned is not to run with a hangover and not to run right after waking up from a 3 hour nap. I usually don't drink as much as I did last night, and now I have reminded myself why.

Saturday, June 9, 2007

traffic!

There was a ton of traffic in the Old Market and I hit the traffic lights bad today. I figured it would be crowded with the Taste Of Omaha going on, but it was even worse than I thought. I still had a good run and logged 6.85 miles in 50min :25sec which is 7:22mpm. The weather was perfect and I felt good during the whole run.

Now the rest of the day I'll spend cleaning and resting. Then tonight I am going to Side Pockets to shoot some pool and have some liquid refreshments:)

Friday, June 8, 2007

The weather rocks!

The weather was perfect on my run tonight. I ran 5.60 miles in 40min which comes out to 7:09mpm. I felt great on the run and wanted to keep on going at the end, but I have to have energy for tomorrow mornings run.

The old market was swamped due to the taste of omaha festival, but nobody really got in my way. After the run, I walked to the festival just to check out the crowd. There was lots of food and people and the whole thing made me very hungry. Right now the spaghetti is on and then I'm hitting the hay. I have to have energy for tomorrow nights Miller Lite fest:) This will take place at Horshoe casino I believe.

Thursday, June 7, 2007

A little better.

It was again windy, but not nearly as windy as last nights run. I ran 4.2 miles in 30min and felt good despite the heat and wind. I think I am starting to get used to the crappy running weather. It wasn't as busy tonight in the Old Market, but Taste of Omaha kicks off tomorrow and that's always busy.

I walked about 3 miles after the run just to cool down a bit. Tomorrow I just run and then relax the rest of the night. I plan to be in bed early again and be ready for Saturdays run.

Wednesday, June 6, 2007

Damn wind!

Not only was it almost 90 degrees, but there was also 40mph wind gusts on the run tonight. It was tough, but I did well considering the conditions. I posted 4.12 miles in a time of 30m which comes out to 7:17mpm. There was another concert tonight so there was lots of traffic in the Old Market. This weekend "taste of Omaha" will be here, so I'll have even more traffic to put up with than usual.

Tuesday, June 5, 2007

I'll take it!

Finally, the weather was perfect for an evening run. I ran 5.57 miles in 40minutes which is about 7:10mpm. After the run, I then went on a walk that covered about 3 miles. I had to take advantage of the nice weather, because tomorrow there is a stormy forecast.

There must have been a concert at the qwest this evening, because the old market was busier than usual. I even passed a female co-worker during my run around the market. I felt very strong on the run and would have had better time if not for the traffic lights. Time really isn't a big deal right now anyway, and I should be pacing myself a bit better to avoid burnout. Well, it's time to eat some bean and rice tortillas and then hit the sack.

Monday, June 4, 2007

Monday run.

I logged in 4.19 miles in 30minutes which comes to 7:09mpm. I tried to slow the pace a bit tonight so I could finish a bit stronger. For the most part, I felt very strong during the run and didn't experience any fatigue. The weather was ok and I finished my run minutes before it started raining. After the run, I came home and did my 30min ab routine (taebo). Now I am simply waiting for the season premiere of Hell's Kitchen.:)

Sunday, June 3, 2007

Couch moving

I had to move my couch up 3 floors this morning, so I was a little weak on the run today. My parents/brother came down and helped me move it. I was still able to log 4.22 miles in a time of 30minutes and that comes out to 7:07mpm. It was a nice sunny day and I actually walked a couple of miles after my run. I am still not pre-Lincoln form but I'm getting there. Tomorrow I'll continue my training but the big thing tomorrow is.....Hell's kitchens' season premiere.:()

Saturday, June 2, 2007

Saturday.

I had to put up with a lot of traffic on my run today due to the Farmers Market in the Old Market. I had a nice 5.61 mile run and finished in 40min which comes out to 7:08mpm. I would have had a better time if not for the traffic lights I kept hitting on the first go-around. I am staying in tonight because my parents are coming over tomorrow morning.:)

Friday, June 1, 2007

running good!

First, I am very tired tonight so I won't be writing much. I ran 4.34 miles in a time of 30min, and that comes out to 6:55mpm. I felt good and look forward to getting back out there tomorrow morning. I'm actually going to eat and then drift off to sleep. Hopefully, I can write more tomorrow.

Wednesday, May 30, 2007

Training has begun!

Finally I started my program for the Omaha 1/2 marathon. I ran 4.2 miles last night in 30min and 5.61 in 40min tonight. My average mpm tonight was 7:08. I must say the first 2 nights have gone very well, especially this evenings run. I didn't tire during either run and maintained my normal pace. I am off tomorrow night which is the only night I have off this week. The only training I will do is to eat a couple of plates of spaghetti.:) Well, I might go for a walk....it's very hard for me not to do anything!

Monday, May 28, 2007

3 days in 1!

My best friend was in town over the weekend, so I haven't been able to log my last couple of runs. He got in town last night and we immediately "carb'd" up at spaghetti works. Then him and his girlfriend stopped over for a bit. We went on a 4-5 mile run today that wasn't timed, but I felt really good on the run. It was great hanging out with them and hopefully I can see them again in August. Chris is the one who constructs my workouts for me.

Saturday I went on a 5.5 mile run and a 3 mile run on sunday. I timed both and they are on my running log but I'm not going to record these on here. This week I start my program and am looking forward to it.

Friday, May 25, 2007

Memorial day weekend begins!

Yeah, I'm pretty much a loser. I spent my Friday night going on a run and then cleaning my apartment. I may be having 2 weekend guests so I did have good reason to stay in. The run went very well and the weather was near perfect. I ran 4.11 miles in a time of 28m :44sec which comes out to 6:59mpm. I'm still not as strong as I was during training for Lincoln, but my old form is returning slowly but surely. Tomorrows run may be delayed due to a wet forecast, but I'll get out there at some point. Then it's SATURDAY NIGHT!

Thursday, May 24, 2007

nice run :)

Had a good run tonight! I stayed well hydrated and ran 5.48 miles in 38m :11sec which comes out to under 7mpm. I'm looking forward to starting my training program for Omaha next week. I believe I'll be running at least 6 days a week and will be running 7 days during the middle of the program. I'm definitely ready to start and look forward to achieving my goal of 1:30. Not much else to write tonight...I must hit the bed for some much needed zzz's.

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

Windy again!

Once again it was another windy day on my run and it's always in my face when I'm running uphill. I'm getting rather tired of it, but it will help toughen me up for Omaha. Plus, Lincoln was very windy/rainy and I did quite well in that race.

I logged in another 5.48 miles in a time of 39m :55sec which is about the norm for me. I did feel better on the run tonight and did a better job of staying hydrated. I'm off tomorrow and will crosstrain by doing my aerobic stepper. Till the next time..!

Monday, May 21, 2007

Mondays suck!!!!!!!!

I didn't feel very well on the run tonight, but I still finished with a good time. I logged in 4.11 miles in 29m :08sec which comes out to 7:05mpm. I'm still struggling a bit, but my friend, who is the one making my workouts for me, said that this is normal after a race. I'm hoping to consistently getting back to form by next week...that's when I start my new program.

Saturday, May 19, 2007

Saturday morning in the market.

Due to the Farmers Market and something going on at Con Agra, the Old market was pretty crowded this morning. This didn't stop me from having a pretty good run in near perfect running conditions. I logged in another 6.85 miles in 49m :28sec which comes out to 7:13mpm. It was nice getting back into the groove of things after having most of last week off, but I do look forward to having tomorrow off. I see a few liquid refreshments in my future this evening:)

Friday, May 18, 2007

Friday!!!!!

Ran 4.11 miles with a time of 29min :47sec. The run went ok, but it was hard running by some of the bars in the old market. Seeing all the people sitting outside of JD Tuckers drinking beer made me thirsty! I plan to run tomorrow morning after work and it will mark the first morning run in a while. Later.

Thursday, May 17, 2007

another run

Ran another 5.48 miles this evening with a time of 39min :23sec. I feel like I am getting back to form and felt good during the run tonight. I got my updated workout for Omaha and we are shooting for 6:52 minutes per mile for the race. Can't write much tonight because it's getting rather late.

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

offnight...sort of

Didn't run tonight, but did do an hour on aerobic stepper and did some ab work. Wednesday nights are always good because that is the night for spaghetti. I usually have two plates w/sauce and half of a chicken breast for each plate. Other nights, I have a mix of brown rice and black beans wrapped up in 2 tortilla shells. I eat mostly high energy foods that cater to my running. Looking forward to getting back out tomorrow.

I also got the first glance of my 16 week program for omaha. It focuses a lot on time and trying to keep close to "race" pace. It will be a bit more challenging than my last program, but I look forward to starting it on the 29th!

better

Ran much better tonight! Using my downtown route, I ran 5.28 miles in 38m :52sec which comes out to 7:06 mpm. My training program for Omaha will start on May 29 and will be a 16 week program. I am hoping for a time of 1:30...tough but not impossible.

Monday!!!!

Another tough one..it was hot and humid on the run! I was just happy to finish. I ran my downtown route which starts at 10th and harney, heads up to Pacific, then I take Pacific to 13th street, 13th to Harney and then start all over again. I'll be back to form by weeks end. My time was good, 30m 39sec for 4.11 miles, but I didn't feel great during the run. I'm in the down time and hopefully I'll get back soon! :) Anybody who views my blog is encouraged to give me some tips!

tough road back

I ran a total of 5 miles this weekend and I've learned it's hard to get back in the groove after an event like Lincoln. It's the toughest 5 miles I've run in quite sometime, but now I'm looking forward to puting in 20+ miles this week. I feel that getting those first few miles in is a big step towards Omaha. I look forward to this week and getting back to normal. I think I will run my downtown course tomorrow.

Wednesday May 9

Did a light workout consisting of an hour on my aerobic stepper, then did my ab routine. I'm already missing running, but Saturday is not far away.

I've been getting a lot of congrats for doing so well in my first race and that just makes me hungrier for Omaha. Is it September 23 yet?

me

I've just completed my first Half Marathon in Lincoln with a time of 1:38:07, and that comes out to 7:30 minutes per mile. My next goal is to run the Omaha 1/2 in 7:00 minutes per mile. I'm 34 years old and took up running just 9 months ago. I'm in the down time right now after a big event, and I can't really run until this weekend. I'll start training for Omaha in the next month or so. For Lincoln I used a 12 week program, and I'll probably do the same for the big "O". Once training starts, I'll have a post for every workout. Until then I'll be on here sporadically.
